FAQ's about Kauai Kahuna Vacation Rentals Booking Process

Is there still a 14 day Hawaii quarantine?

*The mandatory 14-day Hawaii quarantine applies to all Kauai visitors and returning residents.  However, you can avoid the need to quarantine by pre-testing for COVID-19 before you travel.  We have details on Kauai quarantine rules and Kauai COVID testing here, including what type of test is required, who needs to test, and links to the new Hawaii COVID travel forms you'll need to complete.

Are there any special Kauai COVID rules I need to know about?

Yes.  First and foremost, when outside of your Kauai rental (except on your lanai), you are required to wear a mask.  This is not a recommendation, it is a requirement, and you can be fined $5,000 for failing to wear a mask.  You could even potentially be subject to imprisonment for up to one year.  Don't forget to wear your mask.

Is there is minimum night stay requirement?

*There is a standard minimum stay requirement of 3 nights (5 nights during the holiday season).  If you would like to book fewer nights than the minimum required and your nights fill a gap between existing reservations, we may choose to waive the minimum stay requirement and accept the booking.

How much is the deposit for a rental?

*If you book in advance (90 or more days before arrival) then you will only have to put down the first night’s rent, along with a $75.00 reservation fee, and $35.00 damage waiver fee.  
*If you book closer than 60 days prior to arrival your balance will be due in full at time of booking.

When is my final payment due for my rental?

*All final payments are due 60 days prior to arrival.
*If the reservation is made fewer than 60 days prior to arrival the entire payment will be expected at the time of confirming the reservation.

What is the cancellation policy?

*If the guest cancels within 48 hours after making the reservation then they will receive a full refund.
*If the guest cancels 90 days or more before arrival then they will receive a full refund minus the $50 cancellation fee and non-refundable $75 reservation fee.
*If the guest cancels between 60 and 90 days prior to arrival then they sacrifice their deposit.
*If the guest cancels fewer than 60 days prior to arrival then the guest will receive no refund.

Do you offer traveler’s insurance?

Yes, we do offer CSA traveler’s insurance. It is 6.95% of the total reservation cost.  Once it is charged it is nonrefundable.  You can add the travel insurance up until the day the balance is due on your reservation.  We strongly RECOMMEND that guests purchase traveler’s insurance in case of unforeseen circumstances that may necessitate canceling the reservation.  Our cancellation policy does not make exceptions for medical emergency, death in the family, etc.  You MUST have trip insurance or you risk losing all the money you’ve paid for your rental.

When do I receive my confirmation email after reserving my rental?

Once you confirm your reservation either on the phone or online, please allow 24 hours for us to confirm and process your booking.  If you do not receive a confirmation email by the next business day, please contact us and we will find out why it was delayed.  

My confirmation email says I must return a rental agreement within 7 business days, where is the rental agreement?

Once we have confirmed your reservation, you will receive an invitation to sign an electronic copy of the rental agreement.  You should receive the electronic rental agreement invite on the same day that your reservation is confirmed.  If you do not receive the invitation by the next day, please let us know.  

What are the methods of payments that are accepted?

We accept all major credit cards.  A credit card must be used for the deposit, but the guest has the option to use a credit card or mail a check for their final payment.  If you would like to send a check for your final payment then you can make it payable to Pacific Real Estate Services.  

When do I receive my check in instructions?

Check in instructions for the rental will be sent to the email address that is on file once we received the signed rental agreement and the balance has been paid in full. 

What happens once I am on the island and something goes wrong with my rental during my stay?

If something goes wrong** when you arrive at your rental, please call us at the main office ASAP, so we can fix the issue as quickly as possible.  If you have an after-hours emergency, please call our emergency line for assistance.  **Occasionally problems arise that do warrant compensation to our guests.  However, please note that if you do not notify us of a problem, we cannot attempt to fix it, and will not issue any refunds for problems that weren’t brought to our attention.
