• Please leave the refrigerator and freezer controls on medium setting. When set colder, the machine freezes up and will shut down, possibly causing damage, and certainly causing inconvenience as it will need to be unplugged and left turned off for 24 hours.
• The tropical climate can invite unwanted insects. Our units are sprayed by a professional pest control regularly, but you can help by being careful not to leave food on the counters overnight. Wash/rinse dishes and run the disposal often and empty the garbage each evening, if possible. Little ants have their origin in the soil around the building. If you see ants, let us know so that we can alert the resident manager.
• Sunscreen lotions that contain PABA can permanently stain upholstery and bedspreads, as well as harm our reefs. We recommend you use only reef-safe sunscreen (available widely on island) and ask that you do not apply these lotions while inside the condo and rinse them off upon returning and before sitting on the furniture or bedspreads.
• Please be considerate of your neighbors. Kauai is a tranquil, quiet spot, sought out by our guests as a place for a well-needed rest from their busy and demanding jobs. After 10:00 pm, no unnecessary noise that would interfere with the comfort or convenience of others, please. If you are traveling with children, you are responsible for their behavior and actions. The stairways and walkways are not suitable play areas.
• In the course of cleaning, the elements on the stove may become disconnected. You will notice this when a burner fails to heat. Please try gently pushing the element into the receptacle to see if that fixes the problem.
• Kauai’s plumbing is not like the plumbing on the mainland.  Condominium garbage disposals are not intended for shrimp tails, coconut shells, banana peels pineapple, citrus rinds, celery, etc.  These will damage and/or clog the disposal.  Please dispose of all food waste in the trash and use the disposal only for clearing the drain of small food scraps rinsed from already-scraped plates.
• Basic housekeeping service consists of the unit being ready for your arrival and cleaned when you leave. Interim maid service can be arranged, at additional cost. Supplies that you find within the unit are meant as a “starter set” for you. This will include a roll of toilet paper plus a spare for each bathroom, a bar soap for each bathroom, a roll of paper towels and a clean sponge for the kitchen, a small bottle of dish soap, and several spare kitchen trash bags. If you need to replenish toilet tissue, soap, etc., then it is up to you to purchase these items at the grocery store. Look under the vanity for additional toilet paper.
• When preparing to leave, we would appreciate it if you would check to see that the lights and appliances are turned off and that doors and windows are closed. Please remove all garbage when you go, and leave dishes clean, to help us keep pests like ants from finding their way in. If you are staying in a lockbox unit, please make sure you
• If you damage something in the condo, or notice something damaged upon arrival, please let us know!  
• Unreported lost and/or damaged items are subject to replacement charges.  This includes beach towels, please don’t forget to take them out of your rental car!

• FOODLAND:  Conveniently close, right in the Princeville shopping center.  In addition to everything you’d expect to find in a grocery store, there’s also a selection of beach gear and souvenir items, a coffee bar, and a deli with a nice selection of prepared foods and local favorites.  If you don’t feel like cooking, but don’t want to pay restaurant prices, you’ll find some great options…plus your favorite adult beverage to accompany your meal (wine, beer and liquor are sold).
• COSTCO:  As you exit the airport, you will come to a traffic light at the intersection with Highway 51 (Kapule Highway). Go left at this light. Highway 51 dead-ends at a T-junction with Rice Street; turn left. You will follow Rice Street down a hill, past our harbor (where the name changes to Nawiliwili Road), and up a long hill, past local neighborhoods, until you come to a traffic light at Pikake Street. Make a left turn at the light. Make a left turn in front of Costco, make a left onto the road in between Costco and Home Depot, and right before you reach the end, make a left into Costco’s parking lot.  You can exit Costco either through the front or the back, turning north (in the same direction you were heading as you came up the hill). There will be a traffic light at Kaumualii Highway (Highway 50), turn left for Poipu, or right to rejoin highway 56 for Princeville and Hanalei.
• WALMART:  To get to Walmart from the airport: as you exit the airport, you’ll come to the traffic light at the intersection with Highway 51.  Go right at this light.  The next light you come to is the intersection of Highway 51 and Ahukini Road, go left at this light.  There are two entrances to Walmart: one is the first right you’ll be able to take. If you miss that one, go right at the NEXT traffic light (you’ll be at the “T” junction with Kuhio Highway (Hwy. 56). Stay in the right hand lane, which will take you to the right hand turn in to Walmart. Rejoin the Kuhio Highway north for Princeville or south for Poipu.
• SAFEWAY:  If you are driving to the north shore, you can grocery shop at the 24-hour Safeway in Kapa’a. About 10 minutes north of the airport, you will see it on the left side of the highway.
• BIG SAVE:  The Big Save in Hanalei is right on the highway in the Ching Young center and open daily 6am-10pm
• WAINIHA COUNTRY MARKET: A little less than a mile from Hanalei Colony Resort, and about a 20 minute drive from Princeville along Highway 56.  They have produce, lovely local products, and more, including beer and wine. Open daily from 10am-7pm.
